Unit 3: Watching the Detectives

Detective stories are very popular in American movies. James Bond is probably the most famous crime-solving movie character. This character has been in 22 movies, from 1962 until now. The next James Bond movie will come to theatres in 2011.



When I was a little girl (a long time ago!), the most popular detective movie was The Pink Panther. The Pink Panther movies were comedies, about a clumsy French detective, Inspector Clouseau (played by British actor Peter Sellers).



Charlie's Angels was a detective show famous for its sexy female detectives (played by Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson, Cheryl Ladd, and Farrah Fawcett). This show was on TV in the 1970s.



In the 1990s, Canadian comedian Mike Myers created the character Austin Powers - a time-traveling British "ladies' man" who always tried to stop Dr. Evil (who was also played by Mike Myers). These movies are called "spoofs" because they make fun of the James Bond movies of the 1960s.




CSI is probably the most popular detective TV show nowadays. The show CSI is actually many different series that take place in different American cities and have different characters. The theme songs ("OST") for these shows all comes from British rock band "The Who" - most of these theme songs are older songs that were famous in the 1970s.

    1. "damo" is popular korea detective drama
    it's not a movie~ that program is about a gril
    who is detective in chosun dynasty (past korea)

    2. "two cops" is famous detective movie
    there are two stupid police but humanity~
    (1993~ 1998) and comic

    3. "the memory of murder" is also famous detective movie. it's real stroy.
    but i don't like that movie because it's little cruel~ that movie was hot issue at that time (2003)

    i don't like detective movie a lot
    but i like detective story ~ Sidney Sheldon!

    I know Korean detective movies.
    The Chaser
    Memories Of Murder
    Public Enemy Returns

    I like detective movies very much
    but I don't know many this movie.
    My favorite movie is The Chaser.

    western-style detective movies

    I like detective movies.
    My favorite detective movie is 'Hit'.
    'Hit' is Korea soup opera.
    It`s simply 'CSI'.
    I like 'Ha Jung-woo'.
    He character is very charming detecter.
    I like him.
    N My favorite detective movie is 'The Chaser'.
    'The Chaser' is thriller n criminal.
    He also apprear this movie.
    But his character is offender.
    (He`s psychopath.)
    'Kim Yoon-seok' is detecter in this movie.
    He also charming character.
    He received price thanks to this movie.
    The price is Best movie star.
    He is very effort actor.

    Q :Are Korean detective movies at all like western-style detective movies?
    A : No. Korean detective movies have very various feature.
    Sometimes it`s appeared traditional.
    So Korean detective movies r difference of western-style detective movies.

    Famous korean detective movies

    "chaser" ,"mother", "off-line", "public enemy"
    "paradise muderded", "the meomory of murder" etc...

    Many of them. My favorite movie is off-line.

    Off line is Tv chanel(OCN)movie. but story-line and qulity are better than another theater movie.

    I think western style movie is vety same korean detective movie.

    do you knew A tortoise runs ?

    tortoise run is comedy and detective.

    i like HaJeongU , HaJeongU is criminal

    HaJeongU vary cool and smart ,
    There isn't trace.

    I know that korean detective movies.
    "The chaser","Memories of murder","7days".

    I like detective movies.
    My favorite movie is "Memories of murder"
    it's real stroy in Hwa-Sung.
    This movie's acter, Song gang ho is very good acter.
    He is detecter in this movie.
    his action was very impressive.

    korea detective movies are characteristic.

    I like jack chen.He is a very interesting people.And he is a chinese.So i'm very happy. I only like film that have get plenty action.
    Jack chen is a master of action movies.In one of the world's most popular actors.I also like comedy movies.
